PRO-ISRAEL AMERICA LAUNCHES TO BOLSTER SUPPORT
FOR U.S.-ISRAEL RELATIONSHIP
New organization will engage thousands of supporters to help elect pro-Israel candidates in both parties and announces twenty-seven endorsements of 2020 Congressional candidates
MARCH 19, 2019, WASHINGTON DC – Pro-Israel America, a new organization focused on supporting the election of pro-Israel members of Congress, launched today to strengthen support for the U.S.-Israel relationship.
Pro-Israel America will endorse candidates from both sides of the aisle, and today announced twenty-seven initial endorsements for 2020 Congressional races, including 13 Republicans and 14 Democrats who have been strong advocates for the U.S-Israel alliance. Pro-Israel America members will have access to an online platform that allows them to contribute to candidates of their choice, sending a powerful message of their support for the U.S.-Israel relationship.
“We can’t take support for the U.S.-Israel relationship in Congress for granted,” said Jeff Mendelsohn, Executive Director of Pro-Israel America. “The best way to strengthen the U.S.-Israel relationship is to elect pro-Israel candidates to Congress, and that requires political action from the thousands of Americans who care deeply about this issue.”
“The U.S.-Israel alliance creates enormous benefits for both of our countries,” said Jonathan Missner, Pro-Israel America’s Board Chair. “Pro-Israel America is launching to ensure our fellow Americans understand the importance of the U.S.-Israel relationship and have a one-stop-shop for action.”
“America’s relationship with Israel is good for America and good for Israel,” said former Senator Joe Lieberman who Chaired the Homeland Security Committee. “This alliance is historic and valuable, and American citizens have every right – I’d say they have a duty – to let their support for the U.S.-Israel relationship be known. Pro-Israel America is a great way for pro-Israel Americans to get involved politically.”
“Americans from all walks of life support our mutual bonds with Israel,” said former Chair of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen. “As a lifelong advocate for a close U.S.-Israel relationship, I welcome Pro-Israel America’s efforts to strengthen and deepen congressional support on both sides of the aisle for America’s alliance with the Jewish state.”
“Americans across the country support our close ties with Israel, one of our most important allies, said former Representative Henry Waxman. “Pro-Israel America will help ensure our alliance stays vibrant by providing tools online that enable more people to learn about pro-Israel candidates and show their support.”
Pro-Israel America’s initial 2020 Congressional election endorsements include Republican Senators Susan Collins, Cory Gardner, Lindsay Graham, Jim Risch and Ben Sasse, and Democratic Senators Chris Coons, Doug Jones and Gary Peters. Endorsements for Democratic House of Representatives candidates include Democratic Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and Representatives Ted Deutch, Eliot Engle, Josh Gottheimer, Ted Lieu, Nita Lowey, Grace Meng, Stephanie Murphy, Brad Schneider, Brad Sherman and Juan Vargas. Endorsements for Republican House of Representatives candidates include Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Representatives Steve Chabot, Brian Fitzpatrick, Kay Granger, Will Hurd, Brian Mast, Michael McCaul and Joe Wilson.
Pro-Israel America members can leverage the organization’s platform to learn more about candidates’ efforts to advance the U.S.-Israel relationship and to support their election to Congress.
