July 21, 2021 (Washington, DC) — Today, Pro-Israel America (PIA) and Pro-Israel America PAC, the largest bipartisan pro-Israel PAC in the country, announced endorsements of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Congressman Gregory Meeks (D-NY), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
“Pro-Israel America is proud to continue our critical work of supporting proven leaders who will work to strengthen and advance the U.S.-Israel relationship,” said PIA executive director Jeff Mendelsohn. “Majority Leader Schumer is an outspoken supporter of America’s alliance with Israel and his leadership has been critical in many areas, including his support for Israel’s security assistance funding. Chairman Meeks has championed support for the U.S.-Israel relationship throughout his tenure and continues to stand up for Israel’s right to defend itself. As chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, he is in a unique position now to advance the relationship.”
These two additional candidates bring Pro-Israel America’s total list of 2022 Congressional endorsements to 56, including 29 Democrats and 25 Republicans. Pro-Israel America also endorsed Shontel Brown (D-OH), who is running in the open-seat Ohio 11th district special election congressional race vacated by former Congresswoman and now Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Marcia Fudge.
Pro-Israel America’s 170,000 and growing grassroots membership base proved during the 2020 election cycle that support for the U.S.-Israel relationship continues to run deep in both parties, and makes for good politics as well as good policy. Pro-Israel America helped elect 70 pro-Israel members of Congress in 2020 including 39 Democrats and 31 Republicans. More than 90 percent of Pro-Israel America’s endorsed candidates in the November 2020 elections won their congressional races. In total, Pro-Israel America raised over $3 million for pro-Israel candidates in the 2020 election cycle, propelling them to victory in closely contested elections.
