MAY 24, 2021, WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Pro-Israel America (PIA) and Pro-Israel America PAC announced its endorsement of Glenn Ivey, who is facing former Congresswoman Donna Edwards in Maryland’s 4th congressional district.
“The recent spate of terrorist attacks in Israel and growing antisemitism all across the globe demonstrate the continued importance of Pro-Israel America’s work in strengthening the U.S.-Israel relationship in Congress,” said PIA executive director Jeff Mendelsohn. “We are proud to endorse Glenn Ivey – a genuine pro-Israel voice who has committed to advancing the critical relationship between our two countries and who understand that the greatest chance of peace begins with sustained bipartisan support in Congress for our greatest ally in the Middle East.”
Glenn Ivey, a former Prince George’s County prosecutor who supports Israel’s right to defend itself, supports continued U.S. security assistance to Israel, and opposes BDS and other efforts to delegitimize Israel, is running to replace Congressman Anthony Brown in Maryland’s 4th congressional district. He is facing former Congresswoman Donna Edwards, who while serving in Congress, repeatedly took positions out of the mainstream on the U.S.-Israel relationship, including failing to support Israel’s right to defend itself.
Ivey joins the nearly 80 candidates that Pro-Israel America has endorsed in the 2022 election cycle. Pro-Israel America’s 170,000+ grassroots membership base proved during the 2020 election cycle that support for the U.S.-Israel relationship continues to run deep in both parties and makes for good politics as well as good policy. Pro-Israel America helped elect 70 pro-Israel members of Congress in 2020 including 39 Democrats and 31 Republicans, and in 2021 supported pro-Israel Democrat Shontel Brown in coming from behind to win the OH-11 primary and election. In total, Pro-Israel America has raised over $6 million for pro-Israel candidates.
