May 13, 2021 (Washington, DC) — Today, Pro-Israel America (PIA) and Pro-Israel America PAC, America’s largest bipartisan pro-Israel PAC, announced its first two 2022 cycle endorsements: Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Representative Carolyn Maloney (D-NY). Both Sen. Murkowski and Rep. Maloney are proven leaders who have worked to advance the U.S.-Israel relationship during their time in Congress. Both are already facing challengers for their 2022 primary elections.
“We are proud to unveil our first 2022 endorsements – Senator Lisa Murkowski and Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney. Strong congressional support of the U.S.-Israel relationship remains critical amid growing global challenges like tackling climate change and combatting an increasingly hostile Iran. That’s why Pro-Israel America continues the work of supporting candidates who we know will uphold and strengthen our strategic alliance with Israel,” said PIA Executive Director Jeff Mendelsohn.
“Senator Murkowski has long been an unwavering supporter of the U.S.-Israel relationship in Congress, and we look forward to helping her win another Senate term next year,” said PIA Chairman Jonathan Missner. “Currently in her third full term as Alaska’s senior senator, Murkowski cosponsored the United States-Israel Security Assistant Authorization Act and has advocated for the critical security and defense funding needed for Israel to protect itself from regional terrorists and attacks.”
Senator Lisa Murkowski faces a primary challenger who has been a vocal critic of Murkowski.
“Rep. Maloney has been a steadfast supporter of the U.S.-Israel relationship, and we are excited to help her win again in 2022,” added PIA Chairman Jonathan Missner. “Rep. Maloney supports foreign security aid to Israel and has remained at the forefront of combatting antisemitism in New York City and around the world.”
Representative Maloney faces primary challengers, including one who has aligned herself with some of the most vocal detractors of the U.S.-Israel alliance in Congress and supports a dangerous proposal to place political restrictions on security and defense aid to Israel.
Pro-Israel America endorses candidates from both sides of the aisle who work to advance and strengthen the U.S.-Israel relationship. Senator Lisa Murkowski and Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney are Pro-Israel America’s first 2022 endorsements, and follow PIA’s 2021 special election endorsement of Shontel Brown, who is running in the open-seat Ohio 11th district congressional race vacated by former Congresswoman and now Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Marcia Fudge.
Pro-Israel America helped elect 70 pro-Israel members of Congress in 2020 including 39 Democrats and 31 Republicans. 95 percent of Pro-Israel America’s endorsed candidates in the November 2020 elections won their congressional races. In total, Pro-Israel America raised over $3 million for pro-Israel candidates in the 2020 election cycle.
