Pro-Israel America Endorses Shontel Brown in Expected Upcoming Open-Seat OH-11 Congressional Race
FEBRUARY 11, 2021, WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Pro-Israel America (PIA), a nationwide grassroots organization dedicated to electing pro-Israel members of Congress, announced its endorsement of Shontel Brown, a Democrat intending to run for Ohio’s 11th congressional seat, which is expected to be vacated by Congresswoman Marcia Fudge if she is confirmed as the new Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
“At this critical moment for the U.S.-Israel relationship, Pro-Israel America is proud to endorse Shontel Brown as she runs in the expected Ohio 11th congressional district special election,” said Jeff Mendelsohn, Executive Director of Pro-Israel America.
“Shontel Brown believes that the relationship between the U.S. and Israel is not just an alliance but a true friendship, one that she has committed to advancing as a member of Congress. Ms. Brown supports Israel’s right to defend itself and believes the U.S. and Israel share critical security interests in the Middle East. She also believes that both Israelis and Palestinians must come to the negotiating table in good faith to ensure peace, and rejects the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement that aims to delegitimize Israel,” said Jeff Mendelsohn.
Pro-Israel America Board Chair Jonathan Missner added: “We need leaders in Congress who value the U.S.-Israel relationship and will work to strengthen security, economic, scientific, and cultural relationships between our two nations – and that candidate in the Ohio 11th district race is Shontel Brown.”
Brown is the first candidate that Pro-Israel America has endorsed in a special election following the 2020 election cycle.
Pro-Israel America endorses candidates from both sides of the aisle and proved during the 2020 election cycle that support for the U.S.-Israel relationship continues to run deep in both parties. Pro-Israel America helped elect 70 pro-Israel members of Congress in 2020 including 39 Democrats and 31 Republicans. 95 percent of Pro-Israel America’s endorsed candidates in the November elections won their congressional races. In total, Pro-Israel America raised over $3 million for pro-Israel candidates in the 2020 election cycle.
