Pro-Israel America Releases New York Primary Guide Highlighting Four Upcoming Elections Critical to the U.S.-Israel Relationship and Endorses Congressman Max Rose
June 11, 2020, WASHINGTON DC – Pro-Israel America, a nation-wide grassroots network dedicated to electing pro-Israel members of Congress, released a New York Primary Guide outlining four critical primary elections slated for June 23 where champions of the U.S.-Israel alliance are facing challenges, including from candidates who have clear anti-Israel policy positions, have taken endorsements from groups with anti-Israel agendas or do not have proven records on the issue.
Pro-Israel America also announced its endorsement of New York Congressman Max Rose (D) – (NY-11), a strong supporter of the U.S.-Israel relationship who is facing a competitive general election in November.
“The upcoming New York Democratic Primary could be critical for maintaining support for the U.S.-Israel relationship in Congress,” said Jeff Mendelsohn, Executive Director, Pro-Israel America. “Pro-Israel America’s members are working to support our endorsed candidates Representatives Eliot Engel, Carolyn Maloney, Gregory Meeks, and Grace Meng, who have all been champions of a strong partnership with Israel and are all facing at least one challenger with a clear anti-Israel agenda or an affiliation with an anti-Israel group.”
The primary guide calls attention to four key races that will be decided on June 23, 2020. A strong alliance between the U.S. and our democratic ally, Israel, keeps both our countries safe, helps advance our economies, and is right now a bright spot in research to prevent and cure the COVID-19 virus. Electing leaders that understand that relationship is vital to our security.
Congressman Eliot Engel, Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee is being challenged by a candidate who wants to condition and cut U.S. military assistance to Israel.
Rep. Carolyn Maloney faces three challengers including one who has clearly called for conditioning and cutting U.S. military assistance to Israel and two who are affiliated with the Democratic Socialists of America, an organization that advocates for the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement that aims to put an end to the Jewish State.
Rep. Gregory Meeks is facing a challenger who openly supports the BDS movement that would actively harm Israel and is has put forward policy positions that suggest he would end military assistance to our ally, Israel entirely.
Rep. Grace Meng faces a challenger who has aligned himself with people and organizations that actively advocate for anti-Israel policies.
“The upcoming Democratic Primary Elections in New York will be critical for the pro-Israel community,” said Mendelsohn. “At the same time, New York Congressman Max Rose is uncontested in the primary but faces a tough challenger in the November election, which will also be important for our community. Pro-Israel America is proud to endorse Congressman Rose as a strong champion of the U.S.-Israel relationship.”
