Pro-Israel America Executive Director Jeff Mendelsohn and board member Jonathan Missner released the following statement:
“Yesterday, Ilhan Omar faced the stiffest challenge of her career and a tougher race than any other member of the ‘Squad’ in Congress. We all know that unseating an incumbent is an uphill battle, but Melton-Meaux was a strong candidate who made incredible inroads – far beyond what political analysts and observers had initially predicted. With the support of the pro-Israel community, he received nearly 40 percent of the vote last night. Pro-Israel America’s grassroots members came through big for yesterday’s election and accomplished three significant things: we provided the Melton-Meaux campaign with critical resources so he could communicate with voters, we put her campaign on the defense, and we sent a very clear message about the strength of our community and the wide and deep support across the country for a strong U.S.-Israel relationship. We may have lost this specific battle, but this is about all 535 seats – not one race. This is a battle for the future of the U.S.-Israel relationship and we will take this fight to other anti-Israel candidates and strongly support those who are pro-Israel as we head into November, because that’s what we do at Pro-Israel America – we relentlessly work to advance and strengthen the U.S.-Israel relationship.”
