August 3, 2021 (Washington, DC) — Jeff Mendelsohn, Executive Director of Pro-Israel America, issued the following statement in response to Shontel Brown’s primary victory tonight:
“Pro-Israel America congratulates Shontel Brown on her big primary victory today and looks forward to working with her in Congress. Brown’s significant and consistent lead throughout the night proves once again that support for the U.S.-Israel relationship is not only good policy, but good politics. Brown rejected the divisive politics of her opponent and, as voters learned more about Brown and her policy positions throughout the race, they increasingly supported her campaign.
We endorsed Brown early in her campaign because we recognized her sincere and heartfelt support for the U.S.-Israel relationship, and we’re happy to have joined so many prominent supporters – such as the Congressional Black Caucus PAC, House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn, Secretary Hillary Clinton, Chairman Gregory Meeks, Congressman Josh Gottheimer, Congresswoman Joyce Beatty, and others – to help her defeat Nina Turner, an opponent who aligned herself with some of the most vocal detractors of the U.S.-Israel alliance.
Members of the pro-Israel community, including Pro-Israel America’s 170,000+ grassroots supporters, mobilized behind Shontel Brown’s campaign, helping her erase Nina Turner’s significant lead early in the race by raising over $800,000 for Shontel Brown’s campaign. Pro-Israel America Action Fund mobilized volunteer activists who sent over 165,000 texts and made more than 40,000 calls to voters in OH-11 and reached more than 40,000 in-district voters through micro-targeted digital ads and a detailed primary guide. PIA United’s local billboards were viewed more than 1.4 million times.
The pro-Israel grassroots community has once again demonstrated its conviction and willingness to step up for candidates who value the U.S.-Israel relationship, and will carry the momentum from this huge victory tonight into the 2022 midterm elections.”
